The Chamber’s Human Resources Focus Group invites HRDs and business leaders to this presentation and panel discussion on maximising labour productivity in China.

In China, the cost of doing business is growing rapidly while top line growth slows down. Therefore, to sustain business performance in China, HR and business leaders should make labour productivity a focused area of management. China is lagging significantly in this area and maximising labour productivity not only helps companies achieve sustained growth but also contributes to the healthy development of China’s economy. 

During this session, keynote speaker Yi Wang, Head of HR at GSK China and Hong Kong, and three panelists Andrew Moss, President at GKN China, Joanne Wood, Chairman of Capital Eight, and Hopkins Chen from HR Total Premium Solutions, will explore the following key topics:

Speaker Introduction

Yi Wang

Head of HR, GSK China and Hong Kong

Yi is the first US returnee working in China’s Human Resources field.  Yi’s professional experience started with university teaching in China followed by business consulting in the US.  After joining the HR profession Yi’s passion has been in elevating talent and organisational performance through practical and insightful human resources solutions.  Yi advises and coaches business leaders utilising her well-rounded HR experience, business consulting skills and personal influence. Yi's HR experience covers rapid business growth in China, downsizing in the US, and start-up joint venture development while in Hong Kong. 

Andrew Moss

President, GKN China

Based in China since January 2014, Andrew Moss is responsible for all GKN Group activities in China reporting directly to the Group Chief Executive.

Following experience in both the public and private sector Andrew Moss began his GKN career as Human Resources Director at GKN Westland Aerospace in 1994 in the UK. He went on to hold various senior divisional and corporate positions in Human Resources, Employment Policy and Leadership Development at GKN.

From 2004 until his appointment to China he was Senior Vice President Human Resources for GKN Driveline, the largest division of the GKN Group. Throughout this period he was also a member of the Board of SDS the GKN automotive joint venture in China a position he still holds in his role as President GKN China.

Andrew studied English Literature at the University of Wales, and was awarded the degree of Doctor of Business Administration at Bath University in UK in 2013. He lives in Shanghai with his wife. They have a son in the UK.

Joanne Wood

Chairman, Capital Eight

Joanne K. Wood is the Founder and Managing Partner of Capital Eight, an investment banking boutique specialised in corporate finance and headquartered in Shanghai.  She is also one of the longest serving foreign expats based in China, having lived and worked here for 29 years.

Joanne has previously worked in senior corporate finance positions with UBS in Europe, the USA and Greater China with over 35 years of investment banking experience, 25 of those years focused on a wide range of China M&A, Debt and Equity Capital Markets, and infrastructure transactions.  At Jardine Fleming (now JPMorgan), she was a member of the first dedicated team of M&A professionals based in Asia and was internationally ranked as a leading Asian-emerging markets financial advisor.  Listing many Fortune 500, FTSE 100 and Sino 400 entities amongst her clients, Joanne continues to advise companies on China domestic and cross-border investment strategies, capital structuring, fund-raising plans and transaction negotiations.

Hopkins Chen

Hopkins earned his MBA Degree from the Fuqua Business School of Duke University, USA. He also holds quadruple qualifications in Global Professional HR (GPHR) from HR Certification Institute (HRCI), SHRM-Senior Certified Professional by Society of HR Management (SHRM), USA, Project Management Professional (PMP) from Project Management Institute (PMI), USA and Chartered Professional in HR (CPHR), Canada.
