FDI into China: An update and discussion on the legal, regulatory and practical opportunities and challenges

Congresses, Catalogues, Negative Lists and beyond. Numerous reforms to China’s inbound foreign investment regime have been seen in 2017 and further reforms have been called for by overseas governments and other stakeholders. Whether your sector is automotives, financial services, leisure or real estate, changes to China’s approval and registration requirements have evidenced a further opening up of the world’s second largest economy. However, this has all been against a back-drop of heightened capital controls, stricter cybersecurity measures and other rules that have added to the challenge and complexity of this growing market.

Alex Roberts, Managing Associate at Linklaters LLP, and Wandy Chan, Head of East China of TMF Group, will share some opening insights from their respective firms’ roles in assisting foreign clients coming into or expanding their businesses in the Chinese market.  Attendees are welcome to join the discussion on the reforms to the investment environment in China.
