  • Although there has undoubtedly been a positive improvement in Sino-British relations which has had an immediate impact on Chinese FDI into the UK (seen as the priority by the UK governmanet), British business in China is yet to see a significant impact.  What’s more, business believes the positivity will fade and so there is a need to move quickly and take advantage while it lasts.
  • Reputations and relations in China makes life easier when looking to doing business with Chinese companies elsewhere in the world (outside of China).
  • Likewise, “Brand Britain” still carries positive weight outside of the Tier 1 cities in China as the UK’s reputation permeates extensively across China to its less mature markets.
  • Engineering & manufacturing sector in for another tough 12 months, unlikely to pick up until 2017.  Meanwhile, there is optimism surrounding the maturing attitudes of the domestic market towards compliance, ethics, safety and the environment which should translate into concrete business opportunities for British business.
